INTRO
Trusted Twin builds a platform for secure, real-time data sharing between business partners, based on the idea of digital twins. It handles the governance, scale and integration that usually take a lot of IT work, so companies can share operational data without building the infrastructure themselves.
When we started, none of that had a face yet. The company was new, the category was technical, and there was no brand to speak of and no product for investors to look at. I worked on both at once: a brand identity that made a complex data platform feel trustworthy, and a design system tied directly to the MVP so the product it produced was consistent from the first screen.
KEY CHALLENGES
The two problems fed each other. The brand set the visual language; the design system turned that language into a working product interface.
THE OUTCOME
Trusted Twin went to market with the brand and product built here and closed a $1M pre-seed round, led by FF Venture Capital with Presto Ventures, Movens Capital, RKKVC, Startup Wise Guys and several angel investors.
Design didn't raise the money, the team and the idea did. But a startup at pre-seed is often judged on how real it looks, and going into those conversations with a finished identity and a working MVP interface, rather than slides and promises, gave the company a credible face to raise against.
THE THINKING
Branding a data platform is hard because there's nothing to show. The product is governance, security and integration, none of which you can photograph. So the identity had to do the work of making something abstract feel solid and safe to trust with your data.
I kept the brand and the product on one track instead of two. A design system that lives apart from the product tends to drift the moment engineers start building. By tying the system to the MVP directly, the visual decisions in the brand showed up intact in the interface, and a solo scope stayed consistent across a logo, a system and a full product UI without a team to keep it in sync.
